The Great Western Jazz Company draws upon the Classic American Songbook, as well as popular Dixieland and small band swing numbers, for its repertoire. Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman ‘rub shoulders’ with Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin, and the band has musical programmes to suit virtually all tastes and occasions, from Wedding Receptions and Anniversary Parties through to Jazz Festivals and Corporate Functions.
The band also has a special 2 hour "concert" presentation entitled ’A Journey through Jazz’, a musically illustrated journey from New Orleans and Dixieland through to the Big Band era and beyond, and suitable for presenting in community halls in Cornwall and Devon.
The music is the music we all know, and above all, is great music for dancing.
